Welcome to the British independent bridal and womenswear label, Alexandra King. Every dress is hand made from start to finish at the Somerset studio with the highest levels of craftsmanship, including every ready to wear dress and the couture bridal collection.
HISTORY
Since graduating in fashion and textile design in 2005 Alexandra gained vast experience working in the vintage clothing market, setting up her own successful store along with advising other businesses from charities to textile recyclers on the importance of Vintage clothing.
During this time Alexandra also gained experience with the BBC costume department and worked with boutiques to launch her first collections.
It was whilst studying that she met Anna Vickery, who as head seamstress works alongside Alexandra to make sure every dress is perfect. Anna designs and produces the childrenswear collections along with teaching sewing workshops in Wells and Frome and takes bespoke orders at her own studio in Street. Read more about Anna HERE.
In 2007 Alexandra developed 'Make Me A Dress' creating bespoke, vintage inspired cocktail dresses and has successfully grown the label over the last few years producing for women world wide.
The launch of the debut bridal collection in Spring 2011 signaled a move to emphasize British craftsmanship, concentrating on the individual design and cut of every hand crafted dress.
Ready to wear collections are now launched twice a year along with limited edition gowns and a bridal/evening wear collection, accessories and childrenswear.

ABOUT THE LABEL
Inspirations come from the golden age of couture, drawing ideas from film and 20th century fashion. Traditional high quality design mixed with theatrics and a little luxury sparkle.
At Alexandra King we aim to produce our dresses as ethically as possible in the UK, using vintage fabrics, fair trade and organic cottons and sourcing from UK companies who have close contact with the factories they work with.
We maintain the idea that our work should remain special and beautifully unique, offering a high level of craftsmanship and service. Due to this hand made process we can only make a limited number of dresses each year,
We are always happy to meet our customers although we don't maintain a shop open to the public. We welcome you to visit the studio for a consultation and for measuring but please note that life in the studio is a busy one so all visits are by appointment only.
